About Me

I'm Michelle Johnson, the former owner of an experience-based business in south Durham and started Next Level Local to bridge a gap between do-it-yourself marketing (while operating a storefront) and expensive marketing agencies that break the bank. After meeting several other small business owners, I found I wasn't the only one struggling to get basic support that was affordable and effective.

Not only do I help small businesses with free, organic visibility,  I started a Durham-based networking group, Next Level Connect, to bring together like-minded individuals who want to support each other and grow together.

In addition to business ownership, I worked in MBA recruiting, managed events at a local church/YMCA and provided marketing support to a law firm. I've been married to "my person" since 2000 and together we have two children and two yappy dogs. In my spare time you'll find me planning a fun event or trip, volunteering with a local women's group, and/or dabbling in home decorating. Being of Filipino descent, I enjoy Asian food and loves handbags!
